User does not have sufficient access rights”. After a reboot, I once more tried to launch a Virtual PC…but now I was getting an error stating “ The virtual machine configuration could not be created. What to do…well, I figured, I would just uninstall Virtual PC 2007. To add insult to injury, the old Virtual PC 2007 would not run either, saying that it was not compatible with the current version of Windows. Whenever I was trying to run the new Virtual PC, I was getting an error that it would not run with the old version installed. It turns out (after looking in my event log) that Virtual PC 2007 and Windows 7 Virtual PC cannot coexist on the same machine. Unfortunately, I could not get the new Virtual PC to actually run. Along the way I read some great articles about how I would be able to boot a VHD natively and though I would give it a try. I happily downloaded the update, ran it, and then merrily went on my way for a couple of weeks where I never had to fire up a Virtual Machine. Shortly afterwards Microsoft released the Beta for Windows 7 Virtual PC ( KB958559). When I first installed Windows 7 RC, the image that I used had Virtual PC 2007 SP1 installed on it.
